How we work

Every engagement has two parts: a one-time build fee for the first version, then a monthly retainer to run and improve that version.

    A call to learn the business and the problem, then a written scope: what we build, in what order, and how we will know the build is done.

  2. 02Build

    We deploy working software early, so your team can try each piece as it lands and shape the next one.

  3. 03Run

    We host, monitor and back up the software, and we fix what breaks.

  4. 04Improve

    The retainer pays for steady improvement: new features as the business changes, plus the upkeep every system needs.

We run our own products on the same stack and the same infrastructure we use for client work.

Nous

Personal finance · live

Nous connects bank, card, loan and investment accounts through Plaid and shows net worth, cash flow, budgets and savings goals in one place, synced every day.

Financial data is encrypted at rest and is never sold or used for advertising. Nous runs on the web and Android, with iPhone coming.

Trip Planner

Travel · private use

A trip planner for households: travelers, stays, transport and day-by-day plans in one itinerary, with a Discord bot that answers what is coming up next.

Trip Planner is in private use and not yet open to sign-ups.

How we build

The same practices cover client projects and our own products.

  • Django and Postgres on the back end, React and TypeScript on the front end.
  • Every change passes its tests in CI before it merges.
  • Production databases run on Amazon RDS, with backups copied to a second AWS region.
  • A standby server in AWS can take over every app when the primary server goes down.
  • Traffic reaches each app through Cloudflare.
  • Secrets live in AWS Parameter Store, outside the code, and every commit is scanned for leaked keys.
